Learning from Nelson Mandela

Image
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” #NelsonMandela

More than one million cybersecurity attack vectors in the past few months

Like every battle in history, you'll know that no two fights are exactly alike. Every day there is a war in the business world nowadays.  Some are trying to gain more customers, and others are trying to steal other companies information to achieve a higher edge. And there are others who want to hack the organisation to bring down the reputation of the company.  As if in battles and real war, when a criminal is trying to hack an organisation, they won't re-invent the wheel unless they have to: They'll draw upon a current arsenal of attacks:  malware, phishing, or cross-site scripting (XSS) and social engineering attacks.  Whether you're trying to make sense of the latest data breach headline in the news or analysing an incident in your, it helps to understand the different ways an attacker might try to cause harm. Here’s an overview of most common types of attacks we have seen in recent months in our online services. Our security team is working extre...

Return Path Sender Score gives a score of 95

Image
We are pleased to announce that Sender Score gives us a score of 95/100 for our IP reputation. The reputation of our IP has certainly improved over the years. If you don't know what is Sender Score and let me tell you this: like a credit score, a Sender Score is a measure of your reputation. Scores are calculated from 0 to 100 .  The higher your score, the better your reputation and the higher your email deliverability rate. Numbers are calculated on a rolling 30-day average and illustrate where your IP address ranks against other IP addresses. This service is provided by Return Path. Sender Score  belongs to Return Path which is a comprehensive reputation measurement covering email senders worldwide. In the picture below, you can see our hostname: server.unelmahost.com which gets a score of 95. The score of 95 means we are only moderate volume sender for emails and we are green. :)

Unelma Platforms server received SSL Labs A+ Grading

Image
Most of the server on the Internet are vulnerable to security attacks, and there is no denying the fact that there are many different types of people who are on using the Internet daily.  It is hard to know who are the good guys from the bad guys. So it is handy to secure your server and applications from the security attacks. One aspect is hardening your server with proper SSL certificate. HTTPS adoption is increasing a lot with more than half of the web traffic now is encrypted. We at Unelma Platforms are open source contributor and collaborators. Some of the things we build are from the community of open source developers that's why we give away most of our applications and services for free.  Recently our security engineers were working hard to get proper grading in the SSL certificate category. If you don't know about SSL Labs, check them out here. Anyone can test SSL server by merely providing the hostname here: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/    ...
